Our buying guides are research-based. We have not personally tested every product we write about, and we never claim to. Instead, each guide brings together the information you would otherwise spend hours collecting yourself.
Research
For each guide we gather manufacturer specifications, Australian retailer listings, current prices and stock, and patterns in owner reviews. The main sources are listed at the bottom of every guide so you can check them.
AI-assisted writing, human review
We use AI tools to help research and draft guides. Every draft is then fact-checked against its sources by a separate AI model, which removes anything it cannot verify, and is reviewed by a person before it is published. Drafts that fail the check are not published.
What we won't do
- Claim we tested or used something when we haven't.
- Invent camping trips, stories or reviews.
- Rank a product higher because it pays a better commission.
- State a price as fixed. Prices are shown as approximate, with the date they were checked.
Keeping guides current
We regularly re-check our most-read guides for price changes, discontinued products and broken links, and show the date a guide was last updated at the top of the page.
