A camp lounger leans a long way back, and the fuller ones add a footrest or foot bar so you can stretch out by the fire. A reclining camp chair stops short of that, but it still moves through several angles so you are not stuck bolt upright.

These seven are current models at Snowys, BCF or Anaconda. Figures come from those listings and, for the two Zempire Xuno chairs, from Zempire’s Australian site where Snowys disagrees. Prices are what those pages showed in October 2026. Sales move them, so check price and stock before you buy.

The picks

OZtrail Cascade 5 Position Recliner

Who it suits: car campers who want a recline without the weight or price of a full lounger.

Key strengths: Snowys lists five positions, a 22/19 mm aluminium frame, moulded armrests, a padded high back, a built-in pillow and a detachable drink holder. Rating 150 kg, weight 4.7 kg. Open size is 112 cm high, 69 cm wide and 79 cm deep. The seat line reads 47 cm high, 49 cm wide and 46 cm deep. Packed size is 104 x 59 x 10 cm. It was A$109.99 in October 2026, against an RRP of A$154.99. Warranty is 1 year, with a carry cover. Snowys staff have also described a round split in the seat as a spot for a wine glass.

Trade-offs: Snowys staff have said the fabric is not waterproof, so dry it before packing it away. The 59 cm packed width is awkward in a narrow boot, and there is no footrest. Snowys sells it as a five-position recliner, not a lie-flat lounger.

Wanderer Reclining Mesh Lounger

Who it suits: summer campers who want air through the seat, and anyone shopping at BCF.

Key strengths: BCF lists polyester mesh on a powder-coated steel frame, rated to 140 kg, at about 7.4 kg. A side lever locks the recline. It has solid armrests, an adjustable headrest, elastic sides and a storage pocket. Open size is 65.5 cm long, 92.5 cm wide and 93 cm high. Packed size is 94 x 14 x 65 cm. It was A$159.99 in October 2026. Club members get a 5 year warranty on Wanderer chairs and loungers. The page does not state the standard warranty.

Trade-offs: It is 92.5 cm wide, and 140 kg is the lowest rating here. Mesh stays cooler and feels less plush than thick padding.

Tiegear Base Lounger

Who it suits: people who want a low, hammock-like fireside seat and care more about weight than a high chair.

Key strengths: Snowys describes a low recline, a 42 cm seat height, an aluminium frame, padded armrests and oversized feet for sand and soft ground. Rating 150 kg, weight 2.65 kg, the lightest here. Open size is 111 x 74 x 76.5 cm. The bag is 49 x 20.2 x 20.2 cm. It adjusts between full upright and a more laid-back position. It was A$200 in October 2026. Warranty is 1 year.

Trade-offs: A 42 cm seat is a long way down when you stand up. Snowys calls the fabric heavy-duty 600D and also lists ripstop polyester, so the cloth is not pinned down. The listing does not mention a footrest or a cup holder.

Zempire Halo Lounger

Who it suits: base-camp and caravan trips where you want your feet up and can spare about 10 kg.

Key strengths: Snowys lists a 20 mm powder-coated steel frame, padded 600D polyester, wooden arm inserts, a cup holder and a foot bar. Rating 180 kg. Any recline locks with levers under the arms, and a pillow slides up and down. Open size is 91 x 65 x 109 cm. Packed size is 91 x 65 x 17 cm. Weight is 10.08 kg. It was A$250 in October 2026. Warranty is 2 years.

Trade-offs: Snowys staff have said the foot bar does not lift on its own. The whole chair moves together, so you cannot raise your legs without changing the back angle. The packed width is 65 cm. The seat-height field reads 50 cm wide, 54 cm high and 55 cm deep, which looks like a seat size, so measure one if height decides the purchase.

Zempire Xuno Recliner Camp Chair

Who it suits: heavier campers, and anyone who wants airflow fabric and a high rating without a footrest.

Key strengths: Zempire Australia lists anodised aluminium, DTY polyester mesh, a 227 kg rating, an adjustable pillow, a high back, multi-position recline with under-arm locks, wide feet and a cup holder for either side. Weight is 7.3 kg with the bag. The seat is 53 x 50 cm. Seat height is 47 cm at the front and 109.5 cm at the rear. Packed size is 101 x 19 x 28 cm. Snowys lists the same A$270, 227 kg, a 47 cm seat height, 7.29 kg, an open size of 63 x 70 x 109 cm and a packed size of 101 x 28 x 19 cm. Those packed numbers match, in a different order. Warranty is 2 years. Both pages showed A$270 in October 2026.

Trade-offs: No footrest. Zempire keeps “infinite recline” and the footrest for the Xuno Lounger. Snowys showed this recliner as an online exclusive, with low stock for Melrose Park warehouse pickup, while Zempire’s site showed it in stock.

Dune 4WD Deluxe Lounge Recliner

Who it suits: campers who want a heavy lounge recliner with a slide-out table, especially Anaconda members.

Key strengths: Anaconda lists powder-coated steel, two-tone 600D polyester, shock-corded suspension, a fully adjustable recline, an adjustable pillow, and a slide-out table with a cup holder. Rating 150 kg, weight 12 kg, 2 year warranty. It flat-folds with a carry handle and has no storage sack. In October 2026 the price was A$289.99, with a member price of A$129.00, and it was marked in stock.

Trade-offs: It is the heaviest chair here. Packed size is 980 x 710 x 1650 mm, so the longest side is 1.65 m. The open-size line is hard to read. It shows a ground-to-seat-base figure of 78 cm and also 116 cm high, 57 cm deep and 53 cm wide. A 78 cm seat would be far higher than the others, so check a display model if height matters.

Zempire Xuno Lounger Camp Chair

Who it suits: campers who want to lie back with a footrest, on an aluminium frame rated to 227 kg.

Key strengths: Zempire Australia lists a footrest with a stable bar, infinite recline locked under the arms, an adjustable pillow, padded airflow mesh, wide feet, a framelock brace and a cup holder for either side. Frame is anodised aluminium, seat is DTY polyester mesh, rating 227 kg. Weight is 9.3 kg with the bag. The seat is 53 x 44 cm. Seat height is 53 cm at the front and 113.5 cm at the rear. Packed size is 105 x 25 x 29 cm. Warranty is 2 years. Zempire and Snowys both listed A$320 in October 2026. Zempire says it won the 2026 Men’s Health Outdoor Awards title of Best New Backyard Chair, and showed it in stock.

Trade-offs: Snowys shows this lounger at 7.29 kg, with the recliner’s open size (63 x 70 x 109 cm), 47 cm seat height and packed size (101 x 28 x 19 cm). That does not match Zempire. Plan on 9.3 kg and a 105 x 25 x 29 cm pack, and ask Snowys before you trust the shorter spec. The seat depth is 44 cm, against 50 cm on the recliner, and the lounger costs A$50 more.

How to choose

Lounger or reclining chair. The Cascade and the Xuno Recliner lean back and leave your feet on the ground. The Halo’s foot bar moves with the back. The Xuno Lounger has its own footrest and infinite recline. The Tiegear is a low hammock-style lounger with an upright setting and a laid-back one, not a flat bed.

Weight and pack. Listed weights run from 2.65 kg (Tiegear) and 4.7 kg (Cascade) to 10.08 kg (Halo) and 12 kg (Dune). A long narrow Xuno pack slides beside a swag. The Cascade (104 x 59 x 10 cm) and Halo (91 x 65 x 17 cm) need a wide boot floor. The Dune’s longest packed side is 1650 mm.

Frame and rating. Aluminium is on the Tiegear, Cascade and both Xuno chairs. Steel is on the Wanderer, Halo and Dune. Ratings are 140 kg (Wanderer), 150 kg (Tiegear, Cascade, Dune), 180 kg (Halo) and 227 kg (both Xuno chairs). A rating is a maximum. If someone might sit on an arm, take the higher rating or a second chair.

Seat height and camp tables. Tiegear is 42 cm. The Cascade and Xuno Recliner list about 47 cm at the front. The Xuno Lounger lists 53 cm at the front. Lower feels more like a lounge and takes more effort to stand up from. Do not expect a reclined chair to slide under a camp table. Dinner needs a separate seat.

Heat, rain and sand. Mesh on the Wanderer and the Xuno chairs suits a still, hot afternoon. Padded polyester on the Halo, Cascade and Dune feels plusher and holds more heat. Snowys has said the Cascade fabric is not waterproof. Zempire tells owners to keep its furniture sheltered, even where a frame is described as rust resistant. Tiegear lists oversized feet for soft ground, and the Xuno chairs list wide feet. Set them on level ground, and keep fabric back from the fire.

FAQ

What is the difference between a camp lounger and a reclining camp chair?

A reclining chair leans through set positions and usually keeps your feet down. A lounger goes further back and often adds a footrest or foot bar. The Cascade and Xuno Recliner are reclining chairs. The Halo, Xuno Lounger, Wanderer, Tiegear and Dune are sold as loungers or lounge recliners.

Which of these is lightest?

The Tiegear Base Lounger, at 2.65 kg, then the Cascade at 4.7 kg. The Halo is 10.08 kg and the Dune is 12 kg.

Will one fit in a wagon?

Use the packed size. The Tiegear bag is 49 cm long. The Xuno packs are a bit over a metre and relatively narrow. The Cascade, Halo, Wanderer and Dune pack wider, and the Dune’s longest packed figure is 1650 mm.

Can I put one on sand?

Tiegear lists oversized feet for sand and soft ground, and Zempire lists wide feet on both Xuno chairs. A chair can still twist if one foot sinks. Use level ground, and do not stand on the frame.

Is mesh cooler in summer?

Mesh lets air through, so the Wanderer and the Xuno chairs suit a hot camp. Padding feels softer on a cool night. Shade still matters more than the cloth.

What weight rating do I need?

Match it to the heaviest person who will sit in the chair, with some margin. From this list that is 140 kg, 150 kg, 180 kg or 227 kg, as set out above. Do not stand on the chair.
